On the 7th of January we said goodbye to our friend and President. Joan passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early hours of the 11th December. The Church of St Benedect’s in Gyffin was packed to the rafters with friends and family. Even the Lady Chapel and East wing were full. The Reverend Kevin Ellis conducted the service with immense sympathy and spoke of Joan as if he had known her forever, explaining how when they first met, he thought she was a very prim and proper lady until he got to know her and realised just how progressive she was with a very strong faith and charitable personality. Mark, Joan’s son gave the Eulogy with the expertise his training as a senior social worker had given him but with passion and a couple of “moments”. The organ was played by Chris Roberts (BEM) the Director of Music for Bro Celynin and our St Mary’s Church organist. The committal at the Crematorium was short with just a few special friends and family during which Reverend Kevin said a couple of prayers before we said our goodbyes.
