Local historian, John Lawson-Reay, has written an alternative history of Llandudno which, while covering prehistoric to modern times, tells an informative and fascinating story of lesser known characters, interesting buildings, both private and public, churches and memorials, geology, ships and shipwrecks, industries, trades and shops, theatres and entertainments, as well as two chapters on Llandudno in the World Wars. The book is splendidly illustrated in colour and black and white with contemporary and archive photographs and is enlivened with 'Did you know?' inserts with facts to surprise and amaze even the most knowledgeable resident. At £14.99 the book is excellent value and a good Christmas present.
